Veteran star wing Paul George looks to prove his doubters wrong as he gears up for his first year with the Boston Celtics ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

George has been playing in the NBA since 2010, seeing his next chapter in the league start in Boston. The Celtics landed him this offseason after trading Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Boston fans have expressed all their thoughts following the blockbuster trade. George featured in the team's Media Day on Monday, setting the record straight on his goals with Boston ahead of the upcoming season.

“It’s not about going out and trying to drop 30 every night. I think it's more so about being available, being efficient, being consistent, and I think, again, for myself, just proving that when healthy, I'm able to do what I've done in my career,” George said, per reporter Daniel Donabedian.

What lies ahead for Paul George, Celtics this season

Paul George certainly has goals with the Celtics this season, looking to compete for a title with Jayson Tatum as the new dynamic duo.

Boston exceeded expectations as they finished with a 56-26 record last season, securing the second seed in the Eastern Conference standings. However, the Celtics blew a 3-1 series lead as they lost to the 76ers in seven games during the first round of the playoffs.

The Celtics have plenty of questions to answer this season, landing the players they wanted in the draft and in free agency. They now turn to the fall to gear up for training camp.

Notable additions Boston made this offseason include Paul George, Mitchell Robinson and Mike Conley. Their biggest pickup from the draft was Chris Cenac Jr., who presents high upside on the wing coming out of college.

Boston will get its campaign underway with four preseason contests, starting with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 8 then ending with the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 16. Their regular season will begin on the road when they face the Detroit Pistons on Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. ET.
