Boston Celtics center Neemias Queta reacted to joining forces with champion New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson this upcoming season. Queta's breakout season earned him a contract extension over the summer, signing a four-year, $56 million deal ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. Neemias became the Celtics' starting center last season.

As Queta looks to build on his breakout season, many wonder whether he'll keep his starting job with the addition of Robinson, as a reporter asked how he'll mesh with Robinson in the frontcourt, per CLNS Media.

“I'm not too worried about that. That's a Joe [Mazzulla] to figure out,” Queta said. “I'm out there just welcoming my new teammate with open arms. Mitchell's going to be a great addition for us. I'm extremely happy I don't have to go against him anymore because he used to get all these rebounds. It's going to be good to have him on our side, being able to have a player that's so accomplished — being able to guard multiple positions.

“One of the best rebounders the league has ever seen. So, nothing but welcome with open arms for him. And I'm excited to be his teammate.”

While Mitchell Robinson (13th, 8.8 rebounds) and Neemias Queta (18th, 8.4 rebounds) finished top-20 in rebounds per game last season, both centers finished top-10 in offensive rebounds. Robinson was fifth-highest with 252 offensive boards, while Queta finished eighth (230).

Robinson is looking forward to his first season with the Celtics. At the same time, coming off an impressive season, Queta says he's spent the summer sharpening his game on both ends of the floor.

“I've been working on different facets of the game, being more versatile. Offensively, being more complete, whether it's making quick decisions with the ball or there's a pass, being able to go and get my own shot, and defensively; being able to be in the right spots earlier,” Queta said. “And communicate a little bit more. The same all stuff; the space on the floor, as well. Being able to shoot. It's just been a good offseason to work, and I've been working on pretty much everything.”

Queta averaged 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 2025-26.
