The Boston Celtics are just over a month away from kicking off their new 2026-27 season with a very different roster than the one they had a year ago. On Tuesday, the Celtics held a press conference to introduce some of the new faces, including Paul George and Mike Conley Jr.

Also in attendance was head coach Joe Mazzulla, who spoke on the veteran experience that George and Conley are set to bring to the table.

“[They've] been through the wars of an NBA season… I think they'll make us better. They'll make me better,” said Mazzulla, per Daniel Donabedian of Celtics Wire on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, both Conley Jr. and George have a ton of deep playoff experience throughout their careers that should help an already experienced Celtics team get even more comfortable in those big situations.

While neither George nor Conley Jr. is in the prime of their careers any longer, they are still productive players who should provide shooting, playmaking, and defense to a Celtics team that saw all three of those areas fall apart when they choked a 3-1 lead to the Philadelphia 76ers this past spring.

Meanwhile, Mazzulla won the NBA Coach of the Year award for guiding the Celtics to the second seed in the Eastern Conference in what was supposed to be a gap year last season, but Boston's continued reliance on the three-ball without any semblance of a backup plan failed them for the second straight postseason, raising questions about how effective “Mazzulla Ball” actually is when shots aren't falling at their normal clip.

In any case, the Celtics are set to kick off their new season on October 20 with a road game vs the Detroit Pistons.
