The Washington Capitals showed restricted free agent forward Justin Sourdif the money. On Tuesday, the Capitals announced their signing of Sourdif to a massive contract extension.

“The Washington Capitals have re-signed forward Justin Sourdif to an eight-year, $50.8 million contract. Sourdif’s contract will carry an average annual value of $6.35 million,” the Caps shared via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter.

The 24-year-old Sourdif is coming off just his first season in Capitals threads, appearing in 78 games and scoring 15 goals to go along with 20 assists for 35 points. He arrived in D.C. in June of last year via a trade from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a 2026 second-rounder and a seventh-rounder in 2027.
