Caleb Wiliams is back.
Williams, the Bears starting quarterback who has been out since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 2, looked as healthy as ever on his first drive today against the Falcons, marching the Bears’ offense down the field on a 10-play, 67-yard drive that ended with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Colston Loveland.
Williams looked great on that touchdown pass, rolling right to escape pressure, throwing on the run, and putting the ball exactly where Loveland needed it to make the catch in traffic.
The aso drive featured a nice hook-and-ladder trick play called by Bears head coach Ben Johnson, with Williams passing to Rome Odunze, who lateraled the ball to Roschon Johnson for a 14-yard gain.
Roschon Johnson hasn’t been a big part of the Bears’ offense so far this season, but on the opening drive today the Bears made a point of getting him the ball, both on that trick play and with two carries for 17 yards.
The Bears had a delay of game penalty, so not everything went perfectly on offense, but it was pretty close: Williams looks like he’s ready for a big day.
