The Chicago Bears look unstoppable once against now that Caleb Williams is back. Chicago defeated New England in a 30-24 shootout on Thursday Night Football. Chicago's franchise quarterback played another incredible game that etched his name in the team's history books.

ESPN's Adam Schefter explained how Williams accomplished an impressive feat not seen in Bears history since the Mitch Trubisky era.

“During Chicago’s 30-24 win over New England, Caleb Williams threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns, becoming the first Bears QB with consecutive 300-yard games since Mitchell Trubisky in 2018, and only the third QB in Bears’ history with 300 passing yards in back-to-back wins, joining Sid Luckman in 1947 and Billy Wade in 1962,” Schefter wrote on Friday.

Williams finished the game 22-of-33 for 308 passing yards with two touchdowns. He also added five carries for 18 rushing yards.

Bears fans have to be thrilled that Williams is putting up such good numbers. He looks to be fully healthy and, perhaps more importantly, in complete command of Ben Johnson's offense.

He even won the respect of his opponents, with Christian Gonzalez tipping his cap to Williams after a hard-fought game.

“Caleb is an amazing quarterback. That play to Rome (Odunze), the ball went maybe a millimeter above KB's (Kevin Byard) finger. If it was a little bit lower, KB would have tipped it. Who knows what would have happened?” Gonzalez said after the game, per Patriots reporter Zach Gatsby. “So that's just one you tip your hat to. He made an amazing throw and a good catch (by Odunze). So, it's the NFL. They're going to make plays. We're gonna make plays. It's a battle to see who comes out on top.”

The next big milestone for Williams will be to pass for 4,000 yards in a single season. That could be difficult to accomplish in 2026 after already missing a handful of games.

Fortunately, it already looks like Caleb will have a long career with the Bears. So he still has plenty of time to write his name all over the team's history books.

Now Chicago will get some extra rest ahead of their Week 8 matchup against Seattle on Monday Night Football.
