The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on Pete Nance, Johni Broome and Jake Stephens as the team continues to reduce its roster ahead of the 2026-27 NBA regular season. The announcement came Saturday, less than 24 hours after Milwaukee suffered a 128-127 overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers in its preseason finale.

Nance's departure is the most prominent of the three moves, given his previous contributions to the Bucks. The 6-foot-9 forward/center appeared in 47 games for the Bucks last season, averaging 5.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per contest. He shot 51.5% from the field and 42.0% from three-point range.

The 26-year-old also recorded 1.0 assist per game during his previous campaign with Milwaukee. One of his best performances came in April against the Houston Rockets, when he scored 23 points and grabbed three rebounds while converting five of nine attempts from beyond the arc.

Nance also featured in four preseason games this year, including one start, averaging 4.0 points and 3.3 rebounds in 13.0 minutes per appearance. He initially joined the Bucks on a two-way contract in February 2025 and appeared in 53 games across two seasons, posting 5.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist while shooting 51.7% from the floor and 42.0% from three-point range.

Although Nance's contract did not include a guaranteed salary, Milwaukee had reportedly considered keeping him. Re-signing him to a two-way deal remains a possibility if he clears waivers, but the Bucks reportedly have concerns about another team claiming him.

Broome signed with Milwaukee on October 6 after spending his rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers as a 2025 second-round pick. He made one preseason appearance versus the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, finishing with four points and three rebounds in nine minutes.

Stephens signed with the Bucks on September 17 and played in two preseason contests. The center averaged 1.5 points and 1.0 rebound across 5.3 minutes per game.

Following the moves, Milwaukee still has work to do before Monday's deadline to finalize its regular-season roster. The team has 16 players on standard contracts and must eliminate one more standard roster spot, either by waiving a player or completing a trade that reduces its roster count. The Bucks' overall roster currently stands at 18 players.
