Milwaukee is about to host its first World Series game in more than four decades, and the Milwaukee Bucks do not plan on missing it. Kyle Kuzma told reporters that the entire Bucks team is going to try to make its way to Game 1 of the World Series to support the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night at American Family Field.
The veteran forward added that he has never attended a World Series game before.
The timing works out for the Bucks, but only barely. Milwaukee hosts the Chicago Bulls in its home opener on Friday at Fiserv Forum, then visits the Philadelphia 76ers the following night. According to Kuzma, the team has enough time after the home opener to catch some of Game 1 before its flight out that night.
The Bucks helped make that possible themselves. Once it became clear the Brewers would host Game 1 on the same night, the franchise moved its home opener from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. local time to avoid a conflict.
“The Bucks are proud to move our home opener to 3 p.m. in recognition of this historic occasion,” the team said in a statement.
It is a big moment for the city. The Brewers last reached the World Series in 1982, when they lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games, and the franchise has never won a championship. Milwaukee punched its ticket this time by sweeping the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.
Article Continues BelowStanding in the way are the Tampa Bay Rays, who beat the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 in Game 6 of the ALCS on Monday to take the series 4-2. Like the Brewers, the Rays have never won a World Series, having fallen short in 2008 and 2020. That guarantees a first-time champion either way.
Game 1 is set for 7 p.m. CT on Friday in Milwaukee, with Game 2 also at American Family Field on Saturday.
Before any of that, Kuzma and the Bucks have their own business to handle. Milwaukee opens its regular season on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards in D.C. Then comes a busy stretch, with a home opener, a trip to the ballpark and a road game in Philadelphia all packed into about a day.
