As ESPN’s Jeff Passan noted, Game 1 winners have gone 15-1 in Wild Card Series since MLB introduced its current postseason format in 2022. The lone exception was last year’s New York Yankees, who dropped their opener against the Boston Red Sox before winning twice to advance. Philadelphia now needs the same response against a Braves team that just delivered a devastating late blow.
