Boston Bruins rookie James Hagens scored the first NHL goal of his career, helping his team rally for a 4-3 overtime victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Friday at Canada Life Centre.

The 19-year-old forward gave Boston its first lead of the night at 15:20 of the opening period. After Mark Kastelic drove the puck toward the net and Nikita Zadorov got a quick shot on Stuart Skinner, Hagens positioned himself to Skinner's left, settled the rebound and lifted it into the net. He had created enough room around the crease after moving Mario Ferraro aside before putting his stick down for the finish.

The goal came after Dylan DeMelo opened the scoring at 4:54, snapping a shot past Jeremy Swayman from the point. Hampus Lindholm later pulled the Bruins level at 9:23 with a one-timer from the point after Morgan Geekie set him up. The assist gave Will Borgen his first point as a Bruin.

Hagens' goal put Boston ahead 2-1, but Winnipeg regained control in the second period. Kyle Connor scored 16 seconds into a power play at 1:50, beating Swayman five-hole. Ferraro then scored at 19:48, beating Swayman from 56 feet to put the Jets ahead 3-2.

The Bruins responded late in regulation. With 1:44 remaining, Boston used its timeout and pulled the goaltender. Following the ensuing offensive-zone faceoff, Elias Lindholm redirected a David Pastrnak shot at 18:22 to force overtime.

JJ Peterka then completed the comeback at 3:21 of overtime. Pastrnak forced a turnover by Neal Pionk before carrying the puck down the ice and finding Peterka, who used his speed to create a breakaway opportunity and found the five-hole on Skinner. It was Peterka's second goal in two games with the Bruins and the first overtime goal of his five-year NHL career.

Swayman finished with 30 saves to secure his second consecutive win as Boston improved to 2-0-0. Hampus Lindholm and Elias Lindholm each recorded a goal.

The Bruins will finish their two-game road trip Saturday against the Minnesota Wild, with the game scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Grand Casino Arena.
