Deshaun Watson's season opener left much to be desired. While it was not for lack of trying, he failed to get the job done. The Cleveland Browns absorbed a 24-point beating at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars, 34-10, at EverBank Stadium.
Watson went 16-of-22 for 205 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, which came in the first drive. He was sacked five times.
The 31-year-old quarterback was coming off an Achilles injury, which sidelined him for the entirety of last season. He is still trying to regain his in-game rhythm, but he mentioned some of the good things he did against the Jaguars.
âÂÂFinding completions, operating well. I mean, that's pretty much it. I had one turnover, that one snap fumble. I obviously got to protect the ball, but we recovered it. Yeah, that's pretty much it, for real,â said Watson in a video posted by News 5 Cleveland's Camryn Justice.
âÂÂWe just didn't have opportunities in the red zone to get points. I had six incompletions. One of them was a pick and one was at the end of the half.âÂÂ

Watson won the starting role over Shedeur Sanders, although some claimed that he would not hold on to it for long.
The three-time Pro Bowler has battled off-field issues, but he maintained that he is dialed in with the Browns, who have only been to the playoffs once in the last five seasons.
Coach Todd Monken lamented their poor play against the Jaguars, but he remained unfazed, stressing that it was only their first game. Monken is looking for his maiden win with the Browns after getting hired in January.
Cleveland will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
