Brooke Hogan is sharing more insight about her family dynamic.

Brooke is the daughter of WWE legend Hulk Hogan, and following his passing, she has been sharing her perspective on their family as well as her relationship with her father. She and her family first shared how they operated together on the reality TV series “Hogan Knows Best,” but Brooke explained to Us Weekly that the show didn't truly depict how they were.

“A collection of happy photographs isn’t necessarily the same thing as a healthy family dynamic,” she says of the show that was on VH1 from 2005 to 2007. “I feel like my life was The Truman Show. [But] when the cameras stopped rolling, the masks stayed on.”

Since the passing of the WWE icon, Brooke has been more open about her estranged relationship with her brother Nick, her mom Linda, who was married to Hulk from 1983 until their divorce in 2009, and her late father. She explained that she decided to speak out to defend herself against false narratives.

“I would have preferred not to. What keeps happening is that people I don’t have relationships with speak publicly about me, our relationships or my decisions,” she continued. “Then I’m put in the position of staying silent while a false narrative becomes accepted as fact or correcting it. I didn’t wake up one morning and decide I didn’t want a family anymore.”

Her mother accused her of not letting the family in on big moments in her life. They were not present in 2022 when she married former NHL star, Steven Oleksy, nor when they welcomed twins three years later.

Brooke went on to speak about her father and that not all the times that they had together were bad. The tough moments they were able to get through.

“The foundation between my dad and me was incredibly strong. It survived public scandals, private pain, enormous changes in our family and periods of estrangement because underneath all of it there was a bond that was very real.”

However it came to a point where it was too much for her to handle.

“Over time, things became increasingly complicated until eventually the relationship I had always believed could survive anything couldn’t survive what was happening around us anymore. I can love my father profoundly and still tell the truth about where he hurt me,” she says. “I can acknowledge the wonderful things my family gave me while also acknowledging that eventually the dynamic became something I could no longer live inside. Both things can be true.”

The WWE star died on July 24, 2025 at the age of 71 from a heart attack in his Florida home.
