On Sunday, the Denver Broncos improved to 6-2 on the 2026 NFL season with a narrow home win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Broncos trailed for much of this game but took the lead late thanks to a touchdown drive orchestrated by quarterback Bo Nix.

The Broncos' defense was then able to bend but not break, sacking Patrick Mahomes on the last play of the game to solidify the 28-24 win.

After the game, Nix kept things brutally honest with Mahomes as the two shook hands on the field.

It was a candid admission from Nix, who has watched Mahomes and the Chiefs torch the Broncos relentlessly over the last several seasons. Meanwhile, Nix had a second straight good game after an ugly performance against the Seattle Seahawks two weeks ago, quieting concerns about his seeming inability to throw the ball downfield by making some big plays down the stretch against the Chiefs.

As previously mentioned, the Broncos now sit at 6-2 on the season, good for first place in the AFC West, and have already played a large chunk of the tougher games on their schedule, giving them a legit shot to earn the top seed in the AFC and a Wild Card round playoff bye for the second straight year.

If Nix can continue to build on his performance from Sunday, Denver could be an even scarier opponent for other teams come postseason time.

The Broncos will next hit the field next Sunday for a road game against the Carolina Panthers. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm ET.
