Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram has shared his thoughts on the team's decision to remove offensive coordinator Davis Webb from play-calling duties ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Engram backed the team's approach, saying everyone was focused on improving Denver's performance after a difficult start to the 2026 NFL Season.
“He's about the team. That's all we say.” Engram said during an interview with Zac Stevens on X.
His comments came after head coach Sean Payton confirmed on Thursday that he would take over offensive play-calling duties from Webb. The Broncos have struggled to find consistency on offense, putting pressure on the coaching staff to make changes.
Head Coach Sean Payton announced the change ahead of Denver's meeting with the Chargers on Sunday, October 11. “We'll make a change offensively. I'll call the plays,” Payton said, according to the Broncos' official website.
However, Webb will continue serving as offensive coordinator and help prepare the team's game plans.
Payton also expressed confidence in Webb's future, saying he believes the coach has the potential to become an NFL head coach. Meanwhile, Engram echoed the team's focus on improving its performance. “We're all about, you know, being better, putting a better product on the field,” he said.

Denver will now look to find more consistency with Payton calling the plays. For Engram and his teammates, the goal remains the same: work together, improve their performance, and help the Broncos win games.
