The Chicago Bears had the most explosive performance across the NFL in Week 1, obliterating the Carolina Panthers, 59-37, with an unforgiving offense that never relented. It was the highest-scoring season opener in league history.

The Bears are trying to build on their breakthrough campaign last season, where they ended a four-year playoff drought and topped the NFC North for the first time since 2018. Safe to say, coach Ben Johnson's first year in Chicago went well.

After the one-sided win over the Panthers, Johnson will face an acid test in Week 2, as they will go up against the Minnesota Vikings. He will have to figure out how to counter the schemes of defensive coordinator Brian Flores, whom he has competed against many times.

When a reporter asked the 40-year-old Johnson about avoiding a “trap” or “path” of “overthinking” against the 45-year-old Flores, he was candid in his reply.

“I'm in that path right now,” said Johnson, eliciting laughter at the media conference.

Ben Johnson asked about coaching against Brian Flores multiple times a season:

“Is there ever a trap of overthinking and trying to guess what he thinks you thinks you think he thinks you’re gonna to do…How do you avoid going down that path?”

Before being hired to call the shots for the Bears, Johnson held various roles on offense for the Miami Dolphins and the Detroit Lions, going toe to toe with Flores numerous times.

If their performance against Carolina was any indication, the Bears will be aggressive in finding the holes in the Vikings' defense.

Johnson admitted that he was almost tempted to go for 60 points versus the Panthers with a two-point attempt, but he decided against it.

Quarterback Caleb Williams put on a clinic, going 21-of-29 for 269 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.
