It was one of the veterans on the roster, New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart, who helped spark Team USA’s comeback against France to win the 2026 FIBA World Cup gold medal, and she took home the tournament MVP award.

Following Team USA’s FIBA World Cup win, Breanna Stewart was asked if she would try and run it back for another gold medal during the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, and the Liberty star answered with an affirmative, as per Annie Costabile of The Athletic.

“Oh yeah!” Stewart exclaimed. “See you in LA.”

One of the most decorated players ever, there is no shortage of accolades that Stewart has won. In 2028, she will be going for her fourth Olympic gold medal having been on Team USA’s roster in 2016, 2020/21 and 2024. In addition to her Olympic medals, she now has four FIBA World Cup gold medals, two U19 gold medals, one U18 gold, one U17 gold and U16 gold.

In the gold medal clincher against France, she finished with a game-high 22 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes of play. She shot 7-of-10 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.

Across Team USA’s six games in the tournament, she averaged 12.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists with splits of 55.3 percent shooting from the field, 33.3 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 75 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

But with the World Cup in the rearview and the LA Olympics two years away, Stewart’s focus now becomes the WNBA playoffs and the Liberty’s quest for another championship.
