The Florida Panthers traded for Brady Tkachuk this summer in a deal with the Ottawa Senators. Tkachuk reunited with his brother, Matthew Tkachuk, on the Panthers with this move. On Sunday, fans got to see the brothers skate together in a game for the first time.

Brady Tkachuk made his preseason debut on Sunday. Florida took on the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Carolina Hurricanes. Tkachuk made a major impact, scoring three points in a 6-3 win in the preseason opener. After the game, head coach Paul Maurice spoke about what he saw.

“I think it was a continuation of his first three days,” Maurice said, via team reporter Jameson Olive. “He put in some tremendous work this summer into his fitness level so he can drive at a high pace. I was most pleased with that.”

Tkachuk scored two goals in this contest, including an early one that tied the game. He beat Pyotr Kochetkov to bring the game level 1-1 after the Hurricanes took the lead just six minutes into the game. Tkachuk's second goal came on an empty net in the third period.

The Tkachuk brothers were on opposite wings of Aleksander Barkov. Florida is tinkering with its first line due to some injuries, namely to veteran Brad Marchand. Brady Tkachuk enjoyed playing with the Panthers captain on Sunday.

“He's just always in the right position. Whenever you need an out, he's always there. He’s just always in the right spot,” the Panthers star said of his captain.

Florida is looking to contend for a Stanley Cup once again. They begin their 2026-27 campaign against the Hurricanes on September 29.
