Bournemouth vs Liverpool quick tips

Bournemouth vs Liverpool predictions

Liverpool won each of their first five Premier League games last term, but that proved to be a false dawn.

The club’s supporters are now hoping their start to the current campaign proves to be equally unprophetic.

Liverpool have been slow out of the blocks at the beginning of 2026/27, winning only one of their first four top-flight tussles.

Back-to-back 2-2 draws with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest were followed by a 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town, before Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by Fulham last weekend.

That was not just a disappointing result for the Reds, but it came after an underwhelming performance as well. Fulham produced four shots on target at Anfield compared to three for the home side.

The teething problems have been clear for all to see. That should not come as a surprise to anyone who watched either Bournemouth or Liverpool in the last couple of seasons.

Andoni Iraola’s former club played high-tempo, heavy pressing football in 2024/25 and 2025/26.

Liverpool have not produced that sort of game since Jurgen Klopp’s departure, largely because the squad has not been built for it. It will take time for Iraola to get his ideas across at Anfield.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool tips

Liverpool head to the south coast to take on Bournemouth this weekend.

Liverpool to sneak it

Andoni Iraola returns to the Vitality Stadium this weekend, with his old employers also getting used to the methods of a new manager.

Marco Rose’s side have been ahead in each of their first four Premier League matches this term, yet Bournemouth are still waiting for their first victory.

The Cherries made their European bow this week, so this is their first experience of the testing Thursday-Sunday schedule.

It is a factor in Liverpool’s favour on Sunday. The Reds will not dominate from start to finish, but they should have enough to triumph.

Entertainment in store

It is hard to imagine this game being a low-key, low-scoring affair.

Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in their last two Premier League matches, but they are about to face a Bournemouth team that has scored in every game.

The Reds still do not look quite right without the ball, but they generally pose a threat with it. So too do Bournemouth, even as they adjust to Marco Rose.

As such, we anticipate goals at both ends and at least three in total when Bournemouth host Liverpool on matchday five.

Barcola seeks impact

The summer signing of Bradley Barcola captured the excitement of Liverpool fans, but we might not see the best of the France international until after the international break.

Barcola is still getting used to his new surroundings after his £102m switch from Paris Saint-Germain last month.

Liverpool will hope he makes a quicker impact than Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, neither of whom impressed in their debut seasons at Anfield.

There should be space for Liverpool’s forwards to break into at the Amex Stadium, so this could be the game in which Barcola scores his first goal in the Premier League.
