Jordan Love has made some key missteps that prevent most fans from anointing him a top-tier quarterback, but the 27-year-old does plenty to mask the Green Bay Packers' glaring flaws, most notably an ineffective offensive line and near-inoperable running game. One mind-blowing stat underscores the value he consistently adds to this team.

Following a 27-19 home win versus the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, Green Bay became the first team to own a winning record through eight games while also posting less than 500 rushing yards. There have been 13 squads that have failed to reach that mark in eight games, dating back to 1935, and they were a combined 18-86, per Zach Kruse of The Packers Wire (data was used from Pro Football Reference).

Cheeseheads are not going to celebrate this anomaly. They expect their team to regularly play serious football in January, and this troubling rushing stat indicates that the Packers' ceiling will be capped come playoff time. Even a returning Josh Jacobs has done nothing to cure the ailing backfield.

The former rushing yards leader made his season debut last Sunday after spending the first six games on the commissioner's exempt list due to a May domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend. Although Jacobs scored a touchdown versus the Panthers, he averaged a paltry 1.9 yards per carry. Green Bay as a group produced only 66 yards on the ground. Jordan Love and the pass-catching unit had to do the heavy lifting, once again.

The No. 26 selection in the 2020 NFL Draft completed 30-of-41 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns while tossing one interception. With more than 2,200 passing yards on the season, Love is utilizing an impressive trio comprised of Christian Watson, Matthew Golden and Tucker Kraft. Most importantly, he is leading the Packers to wins.

A fortunate schedule has certainly played a factor in Green Bay's 5-3 start to the campaign, but there would be utter dysfunction without No. 10.
