There were fireworks, literally and figuratively, during the Buffalo Bills' victory over the Detroit Lions, 41-31, on Thursday. It was a historic one for the Bills, as it marked their inaugural win at New Highmark Stadium.

While the fireworks were for the new venue, they could easily have been for Josh Allen, who lit up the Lions with 317 total yards and five touchdowns.

Allen admitted that he got a little emotional before the kickoff, acknowledging that he is living the dream, as reported by the Associated Press' John Wawrow.

“I caught myself taking it all in and understanding how cool it is to do what I get to do. My job is the coolest in the world,” said the former MVP.

“It’s everything I ever wanted, to be the quarterback of an NFL franchise. I'm just very fortunate to have ended up in Buffalo.”

The 30-year-old quarterback cut up the Lions early, as the Bills raced to a 21-0 lead in the first half. Detroit mounted a rally to get to within 10 points. Buffalo, however, closed the door in the fourth quarter and improved to 2-0.

Allen recorded the sixth five-touchdown game of his prolific career.

He will look to continue his hot start in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
