The opening regular season game at the new Highmark Stadium featured Moana star Auliâi Cravalho singing the National Anthem before the Buffalo Bills dominated the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football.
Fans were loving it. Cravalho, a longtime Bills fan, took to Instagram to bring the Mannequin Challenge back. She stood frozen at midfield at new Highmark Stadium in the video.

âMoana is a Bills fan confirmed,â one fan commented, while another said, âHaving a Hawaiian from Mililani perform at [Highmark] is good for [business].â
After she sang the National Anthem, even more fans flooded the comments section of the Moana starâs post. One praised, âYou nailed it!â

Why did Moana star Auliâi Cravalho sing National Anthem before Billsâ win over Lions?
Cravalho is a longtime Bills fan, and she has an amazing voice, as evidenced by her work in the two animated Moana movies. She was one of the two National Anthem performers during the Billsâ home opener. Barenaked Ladies sang the Canadian anthem before kickoff.
The Moana star is best known for her role in Disneyâs iconic animated franchise. Cravalho voiced the title role in both Moana animated movies. The first was released in 2016 and grossed $643.5 million worldwide. A sequel was released eight years later, and it grossed over $1 billion at the box office.
A live-action adaptation came out in 2026, and it flopped hard. It has only made $321 million worldwide to date. Cravalho did not return to star in the live-action movie, but Dwayne Johnson did as Maui. Catherine Lagaâaia assumed the role of Moana for the live-action movie.
Outside of Moana, Cravalho is also known for roles in the Mean Girls remake from 2024 and the Disney TV series Haileyâs On It! She will soon voice a character in My Adventures with Green Lantern.
