Coach Steve Kerr's Golden State Warriors prepared to face the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, October 30 as star rookie Yaxel Lendeborg donned a Michael Myers Halloween costume that must be seen to be believed. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith joined the fun, announcing his excitement for the game as Lendeborg prepared to take on Lakers star Luka Doncic after saying he lost all respect for him a week earlier.

Lendeborg got a compliment from NBA writer and podcaster Bill Simmons prior to the game, as Simmons compared him to another high profile NBA rookie from years gone by, David Robinson, formerly of the San Antonio Spurs.

“Yaxel's having the greatest NBA season since David Robinson,” Simmons said, reposting a video clip of Lendeborg as the knife-wielding Halloween villain.

Simmons' comment was a bit biased, and tongue-in-cheek, judging by the context, but it speaks to a player who has been duly impressive since announcing his arrival in the league as member of Kerr's team. Lendeborg has put up 25 or more points in three straight games while averaging over ten rebounds per contest over that same stretch.

He is also a refreshing personality and he plans to keep it that way. Lendeborg declined media training and continues to speak from the heart at press conferences, mentored teammates Draymond Green and Stephen Curry, along with his coach, Kerr.

Simmons and the NBA world can't wait to see what Lendeborg will do for an encore against the Lakers, as he's had the date circled on his calendar for days. If Lendeborg can outscore Doncic, or lock him down on defense, he will cement himself as perhaps the favorite in this year's Rookie of the Year Award race, and as a favorite of NBA fans from the Western Conference to the Eastern Conference as he continues what has been a memorable start to his career in ‘The Association.'
