The Philadelphia 76ers didn't allow the New York Knicks to get off to a winning start in this season's NBA Cup. Behind Tyrese Maxey's sensational performance, Philadelphia secured a 98-93 win in its NBA Cup opener on Friday night. Maxey's impressive display also caught the attention of LeBron James and the veteran forward expressed his willingness to help his co-star continue developing his game on the court.
Following the game, James vowed to help Maxey become ‘legendary' by sharing his experience and passing down valuable knowledge to the young guard.
“I mean it's been great obviously ultra energy, ultra respect,” James said. “ You get the respect from his peers and respect from his teammates. And for me as the elder statesman I just try to give him all the gems and the knowledge to continue to improve his game each and every day.
“I mean he's already damn good, but you know I think he wants to be legendary. So hopefully I can pass it down to him.”
