Former Patriots coach Bill Belichick was back in New England on Saturday, for a game between North Carolina and Connecticut.
The Tar Heels, fueled by three touchdown passes from quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. and 21 points from three Huskies turnovers, ended a two-game losing streak with a 38-21 win.
It was Belichick’s first game in New England since he was fired by the Patriots after the 2023 season.
The victory moved UNC to 5-4 on the season. It puts them one win short of bowl eligibility, with three games to play.
North Carolina finishes its schedule with games against 6-3 Louisville, 4-5 Virginia, and 4-5 NC State.
Now in his second season at the college level, Belichick’s overall record is 9-12.
