One of the biggest stars in the NFL plays for the Atlanta Falcons. His name is Bijan Robinson.

Last week was a tough one for the Falcons, the last few haven’t exactly been fun, but we need to recognize this. One of the greatest talents in recent NFL memory calls Atlanta home, he has a brand new contract extension so he will for some time, and he singlehandedly gives Atlanta a chance whenever they are playing.

The season opener saw Bijan tie for the most missed tackles across the league, but more notably he singlehandedly accounted for 65.8% of Atlanta’s total yards from scrimmage against the Steelers. This was the highest opener that any NFL player has had since Eric Dickerson had 66.6% for the Rams in 1986.

Part of what I love about Bijan personally is his appreciation for what came before him. A dynamic player wearing number 7 for the Falcons is hardly new if you are a millenial or older, and when I had a chance to talk to Bijan earlier this week I was curious what it was like to be a part of that legacy.

Bijan joined SB Nation on behalf of his partnership with SONIC. SONIC’s new promotion is their $7 Big Deal Meal which now includes a SONIC Cheeseburger, a Medium Drink (choice of soft drink or iced tea), a choice of Medium Tots or Fries, and a Vanilla Sundae. Talk about a deal. And an appropriate one given his affinity for the number.

It is interesting to think about a future player, one after Bijan, wearing that number and having to live up to the legacy of both Robinson and his predecessor in the club in Mike Vick.

The Falcons are in an interesting spot at this point in the season as they are a bit in the quarterback wilderness. This can be a frustrating experience for football fans as quarterbacks are so valuable to their teams.

As true as that is… when you have a player like Bijan you are in the game no matter what. I expect this to continue so long as he is wearing number 7 for the Atlanta Falcons.
