The Cincinnati Bengals failed to capitalize on Joe Burrow’s stellar performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4 and ultimately suffered a 22-17 loss. The loss dropped the Bengals to 2-2 on the season, but head coach Zac Taylor was still able to find a silver lining despite the frustrating result.
In the postgame press conference, Taylor confidently said that he was encouraged by the fight his team showed throughout the game.
“I am allowed to see the silver lining, and that this team's got a lot of fight. And if I get this team for 14 more weeks, 13 more weeks, whatever it is, I'm signing up for that all day because we're gonna have a great year,” Taylor said.
For the second straight season, Cincinnati has dropped two consecutive games after winning its first two games. The latest loss was particularly frustrating for the Bengals because they had multiple opportunities to shift the momentum and potentially change the outcome.
However, Taylor admitted that the loss was difficult to accept while continuing to stand behind his players and the effort they showed against Jacksonville.

Burrow kept the Bengals offense alive throughout the game, particularly after Jacksonville opened up a 13-3 advantage in the first half. The Bengals quarterback completed 39 of his 54 pass attempts for 428 yards and a touchdown. However, his two costly interceptions, injury of Ja'Marr Chase, and several missed opportunities ultimately kept Cincinnati from completing the comeback.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence was more efficient than Burrow statistically, completing 18 of 23 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown. The victory was also significant for Lawrence, as it marked his first career win over Burrow.
Taylor’s team will now look to bounce back when the Bengals take on the winless Miami Dolphins in their upcoming game.
