The Chicago Bears are set to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football. But they will do so without Kyle Monangai, who has been ruled out due to injury. The Bears running back had returned to practice in a limited capacity during the week, but he was unable to recover in time. Here's all we know about Kyle Monangai's injury and his playing status vs. the Bucs.

Kyle Monangai's injury status vs. Bucs

As per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Kyle Monangai will not play due to thumb and toe issues. However, he is expected back for Week 11 against the New Orleans Saints after the Bears' bye week.

Monangai has only played in four games thus far due to injuries and hasn't featured since last month's game against the New York Jets. He exploded for a massive 146 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Bears to a 23-12 win. Over those four games he's played, he has racked up 324 yards on 5.4 yards per carry with three touchdowns.

Roschon Johnson, the team's third running back, hasn't really stepped up in Monangai's absence. Aside from a 51-yard explosion against the Falcons, Johnson has not topped 20 rushing yards in any other game this season. D'Andre Swift has been basically the entire Bears running game of late. He's scored an incredible seven touchdowns over the last four games, including three in the second half of their 34-17 beatdown of the Seattle Seahawks.

While Monangai remains out, defensive backs Malik Muhammad II (toe) and Tyrique Stevenson Sr. (thumb) are both expected to play against the Bucs. Stevenson will play with a splint.
