With the Chicago Bears taking on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2, the team is coming off a historic offensive masterclass in the 59-37 win over the Carolina Panthers. While morale is high after a 59-point Week 1 for the Bears, there was one offensive star who didn't contribute statistically to the win: tight end Colston Loveland, as offensive coordinator Press Taylor went into his outing.

There's no denying that Chicago fans and Loveland fantasy football managers were scratching their heads after the 22-year-old recorded zero catches for zero yards with two targets in the high-scoring affair. Last season saw Loveland record 713 yards on 58 catches with six touchdowns, as he had been considered a breakout candidate for this season, especially in a high-powered Bears offense.

However, Loveland ran a team-high 33 routes, as Taylor even said that they “had plenty of opportunities where he was the primary.”

“I think there were two balls thrown his way that we had an opportunity to hook up on that we didn’t,” Taylor said, according to Courtney Cronin. “Then there were a number of other times where the call, he was the primary, and the ball just didn’t find him. The great thing about Colston is that’s not a guy you worry about at all. You go back to Swifty’s touchdown at the end of the third quarter there, and Colston puts his man on the ground.”

“That’s just something where, when you’ve gone through three quarters, and you have no touches so far, and you continue to fight and continue to help others get in the end zone, you wouldn’t have known if he had 10 catches or zero catches at the end of the game in the locker room from the way he was, as excited as he is for the offensive success,” Taylor continued.

At any rate, Loveland looks for a bounce-back game on Sunday against the Vikings.
