The Chicago Bears made one of the biggest midseason trades so far this season. Bears GM Ryan Poles traded for Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans earlier this week. Simmons made an immediate impact for the Bears this week against the Seattle Seahawks. Simmons played 48 snaps in the game, recording six tackles, two tackles for a loss, one sack, and a pass breakup.

Poles' bold move to trade two first-round picks to the Titans for Simmons, and now he is becoming the face of NFL trades after a video of him on the phone with just over four minutes in the fourth quarter began circulating.

Fans immediately started speculating what Poles was up to.

Poles will still have plenty of time to make moves. The NFL trade deadline is still a week away, with trades needing to be finalized by 4 pm ET on November 10. One of the fans commenting on Poles being on the phone suggested he was on the phone with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers are the only team in the NFL without a win so far, sitting at 0-7. With their chances of making the playoffs sitting somewhere between slim and none, they may be selling ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

The Bears are rumored to be interested in acquiring Khalil Mack from the Chargers. Mack was previously a member of the Bears, after being traded in 2018 to the Bears from the Oakland Raiders. The Bears traded Mack to the Chargers ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft, getting a second-round pick in return. The Bears have the draft capital to potentially make the deal. While they do not have a first-round pick in 2027 or 2028, they have second- and third-round picks each of the next three years that could be moved.
