Caleb Williams kicked off the 2026 NFL season on a high note as the Chicago Bears crushed the Carolina Panthers in the regular season opener at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday.

Former NFL cornerback Bryant McFadden heaped praise on the Bears QB for his four-touchdown performance on NFL on CBS on Sunday.

“Caleb Williams, the Iceman, is one of the best playmakers in the National Football League at the quarterback position,” McFadden said. “And he is like the Stephen Curry at the quarterback position, because when you watch Stephen Curry play, there's no such thing as a bad shot. He can make a shot from anywhere in the court. When you watch Caleb Williams play, there's no such thing as a bad throw. He can make a throw from anywhere in the football field.”

McFadden added that Williams looks more confident this year. The two-time Super Bowl champion felt that the Bears' QB could have scored every time he touched the football.

Williams flaunted his dual-threat ability on Sunday. He completed 21 of 29 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 10 times for 65 yards and two touchdowns.

After falling behind early, Williams opened Chicago's scoring with a 9-yard touchdown scramble around the left edge. He later delivered a 22-yard strike to tight end Cole Kmet in the back of the end zone. He finished the first half with a 29-yard touchdown dash through the Carolina front.

The former first-round pick wrapped up the game in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard pass to Jahdea Walker. Chicago’s 59 points are a new franchise record for an opener, surpassing a 45-point outing against Green Bay in 1948.
