Luton Town have previously requested to take Max Dowman on loan from Arsenal, the club's senior scout has revealed.
The Hatters are managed by former Gunners midfielder Jack Wilshere.
Following Dowman's latest eye-catching display, it has been revealed Luton have tried to to sign the 16-year-old on multiple occasions.
The winger scored twice in a 4-2 win over Ipswich Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
It has taken his tally to three goals in 14 first-team appearances for Arsenal since his debut in August 2025.
And Hatters head scout and club ambassador Mick Harford has lifted the lid on their interest in the teenager.
Luton eyed Dowman
He has revealed Wilshere spoke to Gunners boss Mikel Arteta about the possibility of taking Dowman on loan at Kenilworth Road.
When asked about Dowman on talkSPORT, Harford replied: "I think Jack's asked him a couple of times, Mikel, but I don't think he'll be going out on loan."
Dowman previously played under Wilshere for Arsenal's Under-18s during his time as manager.
He scored two goals and provided seven assists in 12 appearances under his fellow Hale End graduate.
The 34-year-old has been in charge of Luton since October having been handed his first senior managerial role.
Wilshere has since won 25 of his 51 matches in charge as well as lifting the EFL Trophy last season.
Dowman and Wilshere compared
Harford has also compared Dowman's emergence to Wilshere's rise through the Arsenal academy.
The Hatters legend added: "Jack was a wonderful footballer, he still is on the training ground.
"He started, not as a wide man, but as a wide man tucking in those little pockets, getting on the ball and creating stuff.
"Dowman looks more of a wide man than a pocket player, but a wonderful talent.
"I think he will get more game time and I think if he produces, I think Arteta will play him.
"I'm a believer in if you're ready, I don't care what age you are. If you're good enough, you'll play and I'm sure he will. He looks like he's going to be a superstar."
Wilshere made his Arsenal debut aged 16 under Arsene Wenger back in 2008.
He went on to make 197 appearances for his boyhood club, scoring 14 goals and adding 28 assists from midfield.
The former England international also won two FA Cups with the Gunners as well as featuring 34 times for the Three Lions.
Following an injury-ravaged career, Wilshere retired from professional football aged 30 in 2022.
As well as his time at Arsenal, he also had permanent spells with West Ham, Bournemouth and Danish side Aarhus.
After retiring, Wilshere began his coaching career with the Gunners' Under-18s before spending the 2024/25 season at Norwich.
During his time at Carrow Road he served as Johannes Hoff Thorup's assistant before a two-match spell as caretaker boss.
Having left the Canaries in May last year, Wilshere is less than a month away from celebrating 12 months as Luton boss.
The Hatters currently sit 12th in League One after six matches this season.
Under Wilshere, they ended last term in seventh, missing out on the play-offs by a single point.
