Alabama football welcomed Georgia to Tuscaloosa in a game that included an expected Nick Saban pick. Alabama QB Keelon Russell got a big vote of confidence from Bryce Young and proceeded to lead Bama to a 14-10 halftime lead that didn't come without setbacks.
Star Crimson Tide wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams went up for a ball in the end zone and came down awkwardly. Georgia cornerback Demello Jones celebrated as Coleman-Williams noticed something wasn't right.
Coleman-Williams attempted to get up, fell back down, and eventually hobbled off the field with the support of an army of Alabama representatives.
Coleman-Williams had two catches for 33 yards before his exit, second in receiving on his team behind Lotzeir Brooks. Russell had 119 yards passing and a touchdown but struggled in the accuracy department through two quarters and change.
Coleman-Williams watched as the Bulldogs took a 17-14 lead on a 14-yard Gunner Stockton rushing touchdown that rallied Kirby Smart's team. The game was close in the yardage department with the Bulldogs holding a slight edge as of the third quarter.
The injured Tide receiver Coleman-Williams thrilled fans with a jaw-dropping catch in Week 5 only to end up injured in Alabama's biggest game of the season so far. His quarterback Russell got plenty of hype before the start of the game but found himself in challenging seas as he was forced to rally his team back to the lead against the college football veteran Stockton and company.
The return of the Tide star remained in question as the game entered halftime. He returned for Alabama's first drive of the second half, giving Russell all the ammunition he needed to make a comeback.
