As the Pittsburgh Steelers got an international win last Sunday in the 16-10 win over the New Orleans Saints in Paris, France, all eyes have been on the production of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. With Rodgers getting the win for the Steelers in Paris, he would earn praise from one of his star teammates.

Speaking on “The Rich Eisen Show,” the long-time Pittsburgh defensive lineman would talk about Rodgers and how much of a “student of the game” he is and has shown to the team.

“And so when he's checking plays, and he's making sure everybody's accountable, you feel as comfortable as you can,” Heyward said. “You feel like he's going to lead you to the right destination just because he is prepared. He is a student of the game. A lot of times we talk about being a teacher to the young guys, but he's always trying to find things that are nuance and that work. And when you got a guy that can still throw as fast as he does and throw as long as he does, he's gonna put you in the right direction.”

“[Aaron Rodgers] is a student of the game.” 🧠

In the aforementioned international win for the Steelers, Rodgers threw for 212 yards on completing 19 of his 30 pass attempts with a touchdown. Heyward continued with his assessment of Rodgers and how he prepares for games each week.

“Well, if you had a younger quarterback, and Aaron is not a younger quarterback, you'd be very worried because he'd be checking things at the line of scrimmage and being like, ‘What the hell is being called?' Aaron prepares as soon as that game's done, onto the next game, and we feel it throughout the week,” Heyward said. “He's asking the right questions, he's always challenging players, he's always making sure the offense feels like it's up to speed.”

At any rate, Rodgers has thrown for 1,699 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions this season, as Pittsburgh boasts a 5-2 record, tied with the Cleveland Browns, as the two face off on Sunday for clear leader of the AFC North.
