The Philadelphia 76ers got the win in their season opener against the New York Knicks, and it was a highly anticipated matchup between the two teams. For the Knicks, it was their banner night after winning the NBA championship last season, and for the 76ers, it was their first game that counted with all of their new pieces.
LeBron James is, of course, one of those new pieces, and he finished the game with 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. As much as James is always locked into the game, there was a moment when cameras saw him going back and forth with a Knicks fan sitting courtside.
Not only was he seen dropping F-bombs, but the audio is clear as day.
“Ain't nothing soft in the Midwest. I don't know what the f–k you're talking about. I'm not from the West Coast; I'm from Ohio, baby. F–k is you talking about?” James said.
It seems like the Knicks fan called him soft, and James had to defend himself. There's nothing wrong with that, and people would love to see that side from James every once in a while. It's uncertain if he'll be doing that more than often this season, but playing for a city like Philadelphia, he'll have to bring that edge.
He definitely passed that test last night while the 76ers were still able to win the game. Following the game, James shared what helped them walk away with the victory, and it started with their work on the boards.
“I thought in the first half we played good first-stop defense, but we gave up some second-chance points,” James said. “They got some threes off of us not closing with a defensive rebound so. I was really conscious about that [in the second half].”
