The Philadelphia 76ers have become the first NBA franchise to announce an official partnership with a prediction market company, reaching a multiyear agreement with Kalshi as the organization continues its strong start to the 2026-27 season.

The Athletic's Mike Vorkunov reported the agreement Friday on X, formerly known as Twitter, confirming that Kalshi will become Philadelphia's official prediction market partner.

“The Philadelphia 76ers have struck a multi-year deal with Kalshi to make Kalshi its official prediction market partner. Sixers say they're the 1st NBA team to name an official prediction market partner, and are following in the footsteps of the NBA's deals this week,” Vorkunov reported.

The agreement represents another significant development in the NBA's expanding relationship with prediction market platforms, which allow users to trade contracts based on the outcomes of future events, including sporting competitions.

Philadelphia's announcement follows the league's decision earlier this week to establish partnerships with Kalshi and Polymarket, two prominent companies operating in the prediction market industry.

76ers follow NBA's lead with historic Kalshi partnership

Earlier this week, Vorkunov reported that the NBA had reached separate agreements with Kalshi and Polymarket, granting both companies access to the league's intellectual property while establishing oversight of their available markets.

“The NBA has reached deals with Kalshi and Polymarket to make them the league's preferred prediction markets partners. The companies can now use NBA IP on their platforms, while the NBA gets right of approval on markets that they offer,” Vorkunov reported.

The agreements give the NBA greater involvement in how its games, teams and other intellectual property appear on prediction market platforms.

Philadelphia's partnership also comes approximately one month after superstar LeBron James signed an ongoing endorsement agreement with Polymarket worth $15 million annually.

James joined the 76ers during the offseason, becoming part of a star-studded roster featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown.

While James' reported endorsement agreement involves Polymarket, Philadelphia's organizational partnership is with Kalshi, highlighting the growing presence of competing prediction market companies throughout professional basketball.

The 76ers enter Friday's matchup against the New York Knicks with a 4-1 record, having established themselves as one of the Eastern Conference's early contenders.

Philadelphia will host the defending NBA champions, who enter the contest at 2-3, in the teams' first NBA Cup matchup of the season.

Friday's game tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
