The 49ers signed wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the active roster from the practice squad, the team announced Thursday.
The 49ers also signed wide receiver Malik Turner to the practice squad and released wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge from the practice squad.
The team has been hard hit at the position this season. Demarcus Robinson (high ankle), De’Zhaun Stribling (ankle/deltoid), Christian Kirk (calf) and Ricky Pearsall (knee) are on injured reserve. Pearsall is on season-ending IR.
Mike Evans is day-to-day after injuring his ribs in Week 3.
Hodge, who made one catch for 18 yards in three games this season, was nursing a knee injury and missed Wednesday’s practice.
Cooks signed to the team’s practice squad on Sept. 23. He has yet to play this season.
A first-round pick of the Saints in 2014, Cooks has played for the Saints (2014-16, 2025), Patriots (2017), Rams (2018-19), Texans (2020-22), Cowboys (2023-24) and Bills (2025). He he has appeared in 173 games with 149 starts and registered 734 receptions for 9,811 yards and 60 touchdowns.
Turner entered the NFL after signing with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He has played for the Seahawks (2018-19), Cowboys (2020-21), Raiders (2022), Texans (2022-23), Colts (2023) and 49ers (2022, 2024-2025).
He has appeared in 47 games with three starts and has 29 receptions for 414 yards and four touchdowns.
