The San Francisco 49ers are experiencing wide receiver woes after Mike Evans sustained a hip injury during the 35-13 Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins. Depth is running thin, and the front office addressed that problem on Tuesday.
Reports indicate that the 49ers are signing Brandin Cooks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. His immediate role is not clear for now, but San Francisco adds a wideout with plenty of experience.
“Source: free-agent WR Brandin Cooks is signing with the 49ers practice squad, initially to get up to speed for games,” Schefter reported. “It is year 13 for the former first-round pick from Oregon State who now is 189 yards short of 10,000 receiving yards for his NFL career.”
