The San Francisco 49ers on Saturday released veteran defensive end Matt Judon from their practice squad. The move allows San Francisco to bring Ogbo Okoronkwo back onto its practice squad as the team's defensive line gains reinforcements.
Judon joined the 49ers' practice squad in late September. He was elevated to the active roster for San Francisco's Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos, where he recorded one tackle across 14 defensive snaps.
The 34-year-old defensive end had been brought in to provide depth amid injuries along the 49ers' defensive front. However, the team's personnel situation changed after Mykel Williams returned from the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
Williams was activated on Saturday following a productive week of practice. To create room for his return, San Francisco released Okoronkwo from its active roster on Friday before bringing him back on the practice squad and elevating him for Sunday's game. With Okoronkwo returning to the setup, Judon became the player the 49ers moved on from.

For the 49ers' Week 5 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, the team's available defensive line options include Williams, Keion White, Osa Odighizuwa, Gracen Halton, Okoronkwo, Romello Height, Sebastian Valdez and Khalid Kareem.
