The San Francisco 49ers improved to a perfect 6-0 on the season after beating the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football. Brock Purdy had another brilliant game as he completed 72 percent of his passes for 264 yards with a touchdown to George Kittle.
However, Purdy was spotted yelling at Kyle Shanahan from the huddle at one point during the game. Grant Cohn asked Shanahan about this incident, wondering whether Purdy was yelling to get the play faster. The 49ers head coach clarified what the yelling was actually about.
“It's not actually to call the play faster, it's ‘I need it again.' And then it gets cut off at 15. So sometimes, no one can hear and a lot of the quarterbacks do it because I always call the play and then I just walk and think. I don't always watch the huddle,” Shanahan said.
Article Continues BelowBrock Purdy is a big reason why the San Francisco 49ers are one of the three undefeated teams left standing this season. The Niners QB has been outstanding, completing nearly 70 percent of his passes with a 14-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He even entered the NFL record books after the Monday night win as he became the league's all-time career passer rating leader. He has a 105.6 rating, surpassing Lamar Jackson's mark of 102.7.
If Purdy keeps up this level of outstanding play, he will no doubt be firmly in the MVP conversation later in the season. Until then, he will look to further improve upon the 49ers' perfection this season when they take on the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7.
