Brock Purdy and George Kittle connected for a late touchdown in the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 3 win over the Arizona Cardinals, but Purdy jokingly believes his tight end cost him an even bigger moment.
The sequence came late in the fourth quarter of San Francisco’s 36-30 victory at Levi's Stadium. Purdy escaped the pocket and broke into the open field for what appeared to be a spectacular 45-yard touchdown run.
The play was wiped out, however, after officials flagged Kittle for holding downfield.
Two plays later, the 49ers went right back to the passing game. On second-and-10, Purdy found Kittle wide open in the end zone for a touchdown that effectively sealed the divisional matchup.
Purdy couldn't resist taking a shot at Kittle when discussing the sequence after the game.
“100 percent, we were just joking, saying he was really selfish to get the flag and then score a touchdown after,” he said. “But it was fun. I'm glad we were able to finish and capitalize there. Just typical George fashion.”

The quarterback finished the afternoon with another efficient performance, completing 15 of 27 passes for 297 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. Kittle finished with six receptions for 82 yards and two late touchdowns.
Deebo Samuel also played a major role in the win with an explosive 80-yard touchdown run on a trick-play lateral to help San Francisco improve to 3-0.
The 49ers now turn their attention to their first road test in two weeks, traveling to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers. San Francisco and Green Bay will meet at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
