Patrick Mahomes set the record straight on the Kansas City Chiefs pulling off an ugly win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.
Mahomes has been playing in the NFL since 2017, going through his 10th season with the Chiefs. He shines as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, starting the 2026 season strong after returning from ACL rehab.
Kansas City surprisingly underperformed against Miami on the road. They were even at seven apiece after the first quarter, but the visitors locked in by outscoring them 17-3 for the remainder of the game.
Mahomes reflected on the win after the game, per KC Sports Network. He admitted that he and the offense didn't play at their best, describing this game as a learning experience.
“Obviously, we didn't play to our standard … It'll be a learning experience for us to know that we have to come with our A-game every single time in order to win,” Mahomes said.

How Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs played against Dolphins
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs may not have performed well offensively. Despite this, they remain perfect with a 3-0 record after beating the Dolphins on the road.
Mahomes was mostly accurate with his passing as he enjoyed getting most of his connections through. He completed 20 out of 24 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns and one interception.
Kenneth Walker continues the incredible start to his stint with the Chiefs. He delivered another great performance in the run game, racking up 18 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown while catching two passes for three yards and a touchdown.
Rashee Rice led the receiving corps with seven catches for 88 yards. Travis Kelce came next with two receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown, while Noah Gray caught three passes for 39 yards.
The Chiefs will look forward to their next matchup, remaining on the road. They take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4 as kickoff commences on Oct. 4 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
