The Arizona Diamondbacks are on the hunt for a spot in the Major League Baseball Playoffs. Arizona is chasing several teams ahead of them in the Wild Card standings, including the San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs. Arizona got a win on Monday over the Miami Marlins, to help their chances.

The Diamondbacks defeated the Marlins 8-7 on Monday. Corbin Carroll hit a walk-off home run, to play the hero for Arizona.
âÂÂI donâÂÂt even know where to start,âÂÂâ Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said, per USA Today, âÂÂother than I think really good players do really good things. They have an understanding of the situation and executing at a very high level at the most critical moments.âÂÂâÂÂ
Carroll was thrilled after his moonshot. Arizona improved to 80-71 on the campaign.
âÂÂObviously, this is right down to crunch time â¦âÂÂâ Carroll said. âÂÂThese are the games that we dream about playing at the beginning of the season. Meaningful games in September.âÂÂâÂÂ
Article Continues BelowArizona simply has to keep winning. The Diamondbacks are third in the National League West, behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and Padres. San Diego is on an absolute tear right now, with nine wins in their last 10 games.
âÂÂIt really doesnâÂÂt matter what they [the Padres] do,âÂÂâ Diamondbacks starter Corbin Burnes said. âÂÂIf we win every game, weâÂÂre in, no matter how many we get out, as long as we get within three.âÂÂâÂÂ
Arizona has a huge series coming up with San Diego, as the season comes to a close. Time will tell if the Diamondbacks are able to reach the playoffs.
The Diamondbacks play the Marlins again on Tuesday. Arizona enters the game with six wins in their last 10 contests.
