The New York Giants will be without safety Jevon Holland and tight end Theo Johnson for their Week 7 road matchup against the Houston Texans.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Saturday on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the Giants downgraded both players to out for Sunday's game.

“The #Giants downgraded S Jevon Holland (concussion) and TE Theo Johnson (neck) to out for tomorrow’s game against the #Texans. Holland was previously listed as questionable, Johnson was doubtful.”

Holland had initially carried a questionable designation because of a concussion, leaving open the possibility that he could clear protocol in time to face Houston. His downgrade Saturday officially removes him from the Giants' secondary for the matchup.

Johnson's absence appeared more likely after New York listed him as doubtful with a neck injury. The third-year tight end will now miss the contest as the Giants adjust their offensive personnel against the Texans.

The two absences leave New York without contributors on both sides of the ball as it attempts to improve on its 3-2-1 record.

Holland's absence adds another concern for the Giants' secondary. Cornerback Greg Newsome III has also been ruled out with a concussion, while New York is activating cornerback Paulson Adebo from injured reserve ahead of the game.
