Antonin Kinsky brutally hooked on 17 minutes as two woeful errors leave Tottenham in disarray

Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky was substituted after just 17 minutes of their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.

Kinsky, who started his first game since October, made two major errors in a nightmare start as Spurs completely collapsed at the Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday night.

After six minutes of the last 16 first leg, the back-up stopper scuffed his pass out from the back to allow Marcos Llorente to score.

A few moments later, Antoine Griezmann then scored a second for Atletico, capitalising on a slip from Micky van de Ven.

And if things couldn’t get any worse, seconds after Griezmann’s goal, Kinsky made another huge mistake.

Yet again, he scuffed a pass out from the back, directly passing to Julian Alvarez, who tapped into an empty net.

It was the earliest a goalkeeper had ever conceded three goals in a UEFA Champions League knockout stage match.

The 22-year-old Spurs goalkeeper collapsed to his knees while being comforted by some of his teammates.

But manager Igor Tudor had seen enough and opted to substitute him after his woeful 17-minute cameo.

Vicario took Kinsky’s place, as the Czech left the pitch with his head bowed, walking straight down the tunnel.

His teammates Conor Gallagher, Dominic Solanke and Joao Palhinha all followed him down the tunnel to support him.

Only five minutes after he was replaced though, things managed to somehow get even worse for Spurs.

Robin Le Normand headed in from close range to pile misery onto the forlorn Premier League side in Spain.

However, remarkably, a fifth goal was then scored inside 26 minutes, as Pedro Porro gave some small hope to his side.

Spurs captain Cristian Romero also went on to hit the post with a header, as some fight was shown after a mistake-filled start.

But they would go in at half-time 4-1 down to Atletico, being left with a mountain to climb to stay in the last 16 tie.

‘Embarrassed to be a Spurs fan’

Ex-Spurs midfielder and talkSPORT host Jamie O’Hara has ripped into Tottenham and Kinsky for their first-half performance.

He said: “I’m embarrassed to be a Spurs fan…it is nothing short of a disgrace, they should sack the manager at half-time, the tactics are unthinkable…we cannot play that formation.

“To pick Kinsky…everyone’s feeling sorry for him, he’s a professional football player! It’s his job! Put some studs on!”

After the chaos in the game, O’Hara also raged on social media.

He angrily wrote on X: “It’s actually laughable, manager changes the keeper 5 mins in has a stinker.”

“The worst team I’ve ever ever seen, this club is absolutely finished, the manager has got to go now,” O’Hara later added.

“My nan could tell you that Kinksy is nowhere near good enough to play in a Champions League knockout game.”
