Ange Postecoglou came close to ‘doing something he would regret’ instantly after Nottingham Forest sacking
Ange Postecoglou has revealed just how brutal his sacking as Nottingham Forest manager was earlier this season.
The Australian was dismissed as Forest boss immediately after his side were beaten 3-0 at home by Chelsea in October.

He was only in charge at the City Ground for 39 days in total, marking the shortest ever reign of a permanent manager in the Premier League.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis stormed out of the match early before incredibly sacking Postecoglou straight after full-time.
The former Tottenham boss was so quick to be let go that one of his players only found out post-match when speaking to talkSPORT.
Now, five months after his sacking, Postecoglou has revealed the full details of exactly how things went down.
‘I paid a heavy price’
Speaking to Melbourne radio station, SEN 1116, he explained: “I haven’t told the story, but it was brutal, mate.
“I literally got sacked straight after the game…I knew it was coming, it was one of those that could come any day now.
“But they literally sacked me straight after the game. I hadn’t done the press yet, but they already knew.
“So I’m walking out into the corridor just wanting to leave because I was going to do something I regret.”
Postecoglou continued: “I hadn’t spoken to the assistant coaches, who were also going to be like ‘We’re going to be sacked’, so I needed to say something to them, but I was doing this while walking through throws of press and people who are just looking at me.
“I just wanted to get out of there. The security guards were really good guys, they said to me: ‘Ange, how do you want to get out of here?’

“Premier League games, all the roads are blocked for my car for about half an hour, so I was by myself.
“I spoke to Georgia [his wife], and after half an hour, they said: ‘Look Ange, the roads have opened, but there’s traffic out there.’
“They did their best to try and get me through, but I got stuck at one set of traffic lights for at least 15 minutes.
“I had Chelsea supporters giving it to me, Forest supporters weren’t much kinder. I’m sitting in the car, lying back.
“And in between, I’ve got kids coming up and asking for a selfie, so what do you do? I don’t want to disappoint.
“I paid for my penance. Whatever mistake I made, I paid a pretty heavy price for it.”

Postecoglou’s Forest nightmare
Postecoglou’s 39-day tenure was the shortest ever seen in the Premier League, beating the previous record of 40 days, which was held by Les Reed at Charlton in 2006.
He only took charge of eight games as Forest boss in total, losing six and drawing two across all competitions.
The Australian lost his first game in charge before going on to get knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Swansea.
After back-to-back draws, a loss to Midtjylland in the Europa League compounded his misery ahead of his rapid dismissal soon after.
Postecoglou has not taken another job since leaving Forest, despite being linked to a return to management.
He has been tipped to make a comeback to save Tottenham, while also confirming he has no plans to return to Celtic.
