Alan Brazil sends cheeky dig at talkSPORT co-hosts in health update after missing Breakfast shows

Alan Brazil says he’s fighting fit as he continues his recovery after being taken ill while presenting Breakfast last week.

The legendary talkSPORT presenter provided a health update on Thursday morning having been taken off air during last Thursday’s Breakfast show, with Katie Shanahan replacing him.

The 66-year-old later reassured listeners he was doing okay and planned to return to his usual slot on Wednesday morning.

However, his recovery is taking a little longer than expected with an ear infection hampering him this week, but the talkSPORT favourite is aiming to be back on air next week.

As a result, McCoist co-hosted Wednesday’s show with Manchester United legend Steve Bruce.

Al has since sent a voice note giving an update on his recovery, and he’s been tuning in in his absence – and he can’t believe some of the opinions that have been uttered on air.

It came after McCoist and Agbonlahor had discussed the title chances of their former clubs Rangers and Aston Villa, respectively.

The Gers are currently four points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts after 23 matches.

Meanwhile, Agbonlahor’s old side Villa are third in the Premier League, four points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

Reacting in his audio message, Brazil said: “Morning guys, how are we? Hope we’re well, been listening.

“Ally talking about Rangers winning the Scottish Premiership, Gabby going on about winning the Premier League.

“Anyway, I’m fighting fit, I’m back at home, I’ve had a rest, I’ve had a few tests done.

“Doctor, unbelievably said ‘you’ve got a Thursday migraine’. I said, ‘what do you mean a Thursday migraine?’

“He said, ‘well who do you work with every Thursday?’ Have a good one guys.”

Thursday’s Breakfast show is usually hosted by Al and Gabby, whom he joked about getting migraines from listening to on a weekly basis.

Instead, McCoist will join the former Villa striker in the studio tomorrow between 6am and 10am.

Meanwhile, Friday will see Arsenal hero Ray Parlour co-host alongside Shebahn Aherne at the same time.

The former Ipswich and Manchester United striker also provided a health update for listeners on Tuesday, confirming he plans to be back on air next week.

He explained: “Thanks for all of the messages I’ve received over the past couple of days.

“I’m fine, just have a wee ear infection, though one of my daughters said it sounds like a bad migraine! It’s funny as it’s often when Gabby is on with me!

“I will be back on Breakfast next week. Just six weeks to go until Cheltenham!”
