76ers rookie Labaron Philon Jr. reveals Tyrese Maxey admiration before becoming teammates
Labaron Philon Jr. already had strong respect for Tyrese Maxey before officially becoming his teammate Tuesday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers selected the former Alabama standout guard with the No. 22 overall pick in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft, adding another young backcourt piece alongside Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.
PhillyVoice’s Adam Aaronson shared Philon’s post-draft comments on X, formerly Twitter, sharing what the rookie admired about Maxey’s game and leadership.
“Labaron Philon Jr. says he studied Tyrese Maxey because of Maxey’s ability to create his own shot, selflessness and fearlessness taking tough shots. ‘At the guard spot, that’s really what you need: someone that’s going to be a great leader.’ Mentioned Maxey welcoming VJ Edgecombe”
