Charlie Manby has secured his PDC Tour Card on the final day of Q-School.

The 20-year-old was a sensation at the World Darts Championship where he reached the fourth round at Alexandra Palace.

He knocked out the likes of Cameron Menzies and Ricky Evans, before losing to eventual runner-up Gian van Veen.

Had Manby beaten Van Veen, he would have automatically secured his two-year Tour Card.

Unfortunately for Manby, he had to go through the notoriously gruelling Q-School.

How does Q-School work?

Anyone can enter Q-School, they just have to pay the entrance fee of £475 (plus VAT).

There were 29 Tour Cards on offer to all the participants. Ordinarily, 16 are given out to European players and 13 to the UK.

Tour Cards are exclusively awarded during the Final Stage, which is the process by which the overall field is whittled down.

There are 16 allocated to the finalists of each day (with the Final Stage running for four days).

The remaining 13 Tour Cards are awarded via the Q-School order of merit.

How did Charlie Manby get his Tour Card?

Manby beat Steve Beaton to secure enough points via the order of merit to guarantee his Tour Card.

In defeating Beaton, he denied the popular veteran the chance to regain his.

It was a 6-4 win for Manby to secure that maiden Tour Card.

It also likely means that he will be able to give up his job as a bricklayer to become a full-time darts professional.

He scooped £60,000 by making the last-16 at the World Championship, but now his status on the tour is secure for the next two years.

Manby told ITV: “For the past three years, I have been doing this job. It has been my main income and I actually enjoy it.

“It’s a good laugh on the site and you are getting a good week’s wage at the end of it as well. You’ve always got something to fall back on if the darts doesn’t go your way.”

Who has missed out on a Tour Card?

Alongside Steve Beaton, Fallon Sherrock also failed in her bid to win a Tour Card.

Matt Campbell and John Henderson also have failed to win back their Tour Cards.
