World Darts Championship Day 3 betting tips: Picks for Saturday at Ally Pally

Two-time champion Gary Anderson tops the bill in the afternoon session on Day 3 of the PDC World Darts Championship, before tournament second favourite Luke Humphries takes to the Alexandra Palace stage in the evening’s highlight.

Anderson, the No.14 seed, takes on Adam Hunt in an Anglo-Scottish affair, while Humphries will hope to make light work of Ted Evetts.

The afternoon session begins at 12.30pm with a showdown between Mario Vandenbogaerde and David Davies, while Jeffrey de Graaf and crowd hero Paul Lim begin the evening session at 7pm.

World Darts Championship betting tips

  • Jeffrey de Graaf -1.5 vs Paul Lim @ 5/6
  • David Davies to beat Mario Vandenbogaerde @ 2/1
  • Andrew Gilding vs Cam Crabtree Most 180s – Tie @ 19/4
  • Luke Woodhouse to beat Boris Krcmar, Wessel Nijman to beat Karel Sedlacek, Luke Humphries Over 3.5 180s vs Ted Evetts @ 19/10

Tip 1 – Standout Bet of the Day

Jeffrey de Graaf -1.5 vs Paul Lim @ 5/6

Jeffrey de Graaf wasn’t even born when Paul Lim made history by hitting the first-ever world championship nine-darter,and it’s remarkable that at the age of 71, the Singapore Slinger is back to grace the Palace.

Back to grace it – though probably not for long with De Graaf taken to beat a man twice his age (and a partisan crowd) in four sets or less.

The Swede is on the up, reaching the fourth round last year and then winning a Players Championship event.

Lim is back after a four-year absence after finishing fifth on the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit, reaching four finals – winning two – but all with modest averages. This feels like one worlds too far for the legend.

Tip 2 – Possible Surprise

David Davies to beat Mario Vandenbogaerde @ 2/1

NHS manager David Davies hopes he won’t catch a cold on his Ally Pally debut when he takes on Belgium’s Mario Vandenbogaerde in the opening game.

Welshman Davies beat a lot of decent players – including Jarred Cole, Steve West and Shane McGurk – to qualify with a bunch of averages in the mid-90s.

Translating that form to the stage isn’t guaranteed, but if he can he has nothing to fear from Super Mario, whose one appearance at a Players Championship final in the summer stands out in an underwhelming year.

Tip 3 – Stats Tip to follow

Andrew Gilding vs Cam Crabtree Most 180s – Tie @ 19/4

Andrew Gilding and Cam Crabtree have remarkably played an identical number of matches – 74 – and even legs – 673 – on the Players Championship circuit this season.

And after all that there is very little difference between them in terms of 180s, with Gilding pegging 135 to Crabtree’s 122.

It looks like a tight match anyway, so why not chuck a dart at them hitting the same number of maximums.

Tip 4 – Daily Treble

Luke Woodhouse to beat Boris Krcmar, Wessel Nijman to beat Karel Sedlacek, Luke Humphries Over 3.5 180s vs Ted Evetts @ 19/10

Luke Woodhouse is a far better player now than the one beaten by Boris Krcmar at the 2022 UK Open and he can avenge that loss against the Croatian, who lost his Tour card last year.

Karel Sedlacek is capable of asking questions of Wessel Nijman, but the talented Dutch No.31 seed should have the answers.

And Luke Littler made a statement in his opening win with seven 180s against Darius Labanauskas. Expect big rival Luke Humphries to nail at least four against Ted Evetts.
