Standout Bet of the Day – Gary Anderson to beat Michael van Gerwen @ Evs
The Alexandra Palace stage is set for a top-level fourth-round tie when Anderson takes on Van Gerwen and the Flying Scotsman can steam past the Green Machine.
The fact is Anderson is performing at a higher level to MVG at this year’s World Championship.
The two-time Ally Pally king has averaged 95.20, 105.41 and 102.24 in victories over Adam Hunt, Connor Scutt and Jermanine Wattimena and the 102.24 was maintained across seven sets last time out against the Machine Gun.
MVG has put up numbers of 90.82, 100.20 and 99.70, but the two best figures have come over only four sets.
It’s not just the World Championship where Anderson has the edge. The Flying Scotsman is averaging 98.02 on the Pro Tour this season, which puts him ahead of Mighty Mike and there are no concerns around the two-time World Champion performing to his peak on the Ally Pally stage.
Of course, Van Gerwen has the ability to win this last-16 tie, but Anderson should be favourite and the Scot has to be a bet at even money.
Possible Surprise – Luke Woodhouse to beat Krzysztof Ratajski 4-1 @ 6/1
There is little to separate Luke Woodhouse and Krzysztof Ratajski on the match betting, but Woody rates a play to secure a comfortable success.
The market anticipates a closely-fought best-of-seven-set fourth-round tie, but Woodhouse is an impressive and progressive performer who can pull clear of his last-16 rival.
The 37-year-old went close to landing his first PDC title on a good few occasions this season and finished as runner-up in the final Players Championship event of the campaign.
Woodhouse impressed in a 3-0 victory over Max Hopp and that was followed by a 4-1 success against Andrew Gilding, who had previously beaten the excellent Chris Dobey.
Ratajski came through 4-3 against Wesley Plaisier in round three, but the Polish Eagle trained 3-1 in that contest and the match very nearly got away from the Warsaw warrior.
At 6/1, Woodhouse can spring a surprise by beating Ratajski 4-1.
Stats Tip – Over 12.5 180s in Jonny Clayton v Andreas Harrysson
Jonny Clayton is the red-hot 1/4 favourite when the Welshman meets Andreas Harrysson in round four, but the last-16 contest could be more competitive than the match betting suggests.
Harrysson averaged 96.11 and hit six 180s in a 4-2 win over Ricardo Pietreczko in round three and those figures indicate that Dirty can keep tabs on Clayton.
More legs means more opportunities to hit maximums and over 12.5 180s rates a play.
The Ferret crashed in 11 maximums in a high-level contest against Niels Zonneveld last time out and anything like a repeat of that power scoring will bust the 180s line.
